Why learn Japanese?

There is a growing trend in the number of people from all over the world taking the Japanese language proficiency test. By looking at the graph below, you can see the rising bar in each year.

statisticsJLPT is made up for 4 levels, level 4 being the easiest, 3, 2 and 1 being the hardest. The Japanese use a different way of counting the years. (平成)Heisei 12 is for the year 2000. And (平成16) is for the year 2004. The 計 shows the total number of people for all levels taking JLPT.

So why are there so many people learning Japanese every year? This is due to the fact that the Japanese culture has a huge impact on the growing interest in not only the western countries but also other parts of the world. Ever since after the world war 2, Japan has progress so rapidly to a level where countries from all over the world wants to follow. Here are some of the things that made Japan a very attractive place to visit, work, study or play.

  • Very polite manners from the majority of the Japanese
  • Lots of mangas and anime
  • Tons of beautiful Japanese girls
  • Advance technology
  • Very durable products
  • Japanese dramas
  • Jpops and rock songs
  • Creative variety shows and other forms of entertainment
  • and many more

So there you have it. So much reasons to learn Japanese. Knowing the Japanese language gives you all these benefits. If you can communicate with them using their language you get a great deal of advantage in situations like, buying things, asking for a lower price, working in a Japanese company that pays a high salary or even getting to know a beautiful Japanese girl that you might bump into someday. It may sound like I’m trying to promote Japan, but this is the truth.

Now ask yourself, why do you want to learn Japanese? How much time are you willing to set aside to learn Japanese? Some people want to learn Japanese because its fun or its cool. While others take it seriously because they want to get all the benefits of it. In any case, I will give you my personal tips on learning Japanese.
